Ataoğlu: More than 300 young people benefited from Development Bank facilities

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu said that, as part of efforts to encourage young people’s participation in economic life, more than 300 young people had benefited from Development Bank facilities. The statement did not provide details on the type of facilities used, the total amount, eligibility conditions or the period covered.

Ataoğlu, who is also leader of the Democratic Party, discussed support for young people, air transport, and investment in tourism and culture on the Platform Election Special programme broadcast on Kanal T.

Work to support young people to continue

Ataoğlu said the Youth Federation had been established together with young people and that their participation in both economic and social life was important. He said work in this area would continue and added that young people should have a greater role in decision-making and developing solutions.

Competition aimed at lowering air fares

Ataoğlu also addressed high air fares, saying the aim was to increase the range of airline options and boost competition. He said this was intended to bring ticket prices down. The statement gave no timetable for implementing the aim or details of any planned fare reduction.

Port and theatre investments

Ataoğlu listed the completion of the Kyrenia Old Harbour project among the government’s achievements in tourism and culture. He highlighted the importance of reopening the harbour to the public.

Ataoğlu said the State Theatre building would also open after 27 years, describing this as part of efforts in the cultural sphere. He said they had delivered projects that had remained incomplete for a long time.
